How Long After Surgery Were You Sore?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how long should I expect the muscular pain and soreness/tightness from the surgery to last? How long did it take you to feel "normal"?

Thanks!

It took me a little under four weeks. Everything seemed to go back as it was- not as exhausted, no abdominal pain, increased stamina to work through the day and exercise.

I felt a lot better on day 6, and fairly normal after two weeks. I am almost 7 weeks now, and just starting to feel less fatigued.

Hope you recover super fast!

I am day 12 post op and have very little abdominal pain unless I pick up something heavier than I am supposed to. Mainly this is my fat cat and I always seem to forget he is twice the weight my doc said was okay to pick up. lol. I haven't taken any pain meds in days. I find deep breathing and stretching made it a little sore at first, but really helped it go away quickly.

About 2 weeks to feel normal except eating and drinking. I finally felt normal at 2-3 months out.

I was bike riding by day 8. But I would have to say I had periodic moments of discomfort depending on the day and my activities. My belly went through a week straight of ITCHING as my incisions were healing!!! I'm 4 weeks out now and have next to no pain.

really for me just a couple days - after that the only time I would feel sore was sitting up from laying down - and that just felt like I did too many sit ups. I had probably the easiest recovery of any surgery ever for anyone on the planet though I think. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, it was really that easy. I'm 3 months out and ZERO issues. Hope you have the same result!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
