Recommended Posts

I Work a full time and part time job. Im taking Two weeks off from both. The first job i sit all day. The 2nd job is at a grocery store where im on my feet at a register a few hrs at a time. I cant drink anything while at the register. Is this going to be a problem? Looking for comparisons/advice. Thank you!!

It will make drinking your Water to stay hydrated very difficult. ;)

I am 3 weeks post-op and today is the first day I have actually felt "normal." Now, I haven't felt badly for the past 3 weeks, but I've not been up to sorts. My main complaints have been that my energy level has been low and my ability to focus on complex matters has not been up to par. Today, tho, was a real milestone for me and really the first day that I woke up, ready to face the day. I'm 65 years old, too, so my ability to rebound is not the same as that of a younger person. I do have to say that I may have fared better had I done a better job of keeping myself hydrated and nourished with Protein the first couple of weeks. My surgeon says that mine is a normal case and the symptoms described above to be expected. Every case is different and your mileage may vary. As to not being able to drink at the register, I would think that any conscientious, responsible employer would allow you to do so if your request was supported by a doctor's note.

I returned to work after 10 days. I stand and walk all day. It was actually a "perfect" scenario for me. I found moving constantly a great way to avoid gas pains etc. I also think you will need to explain to someone that you will need to sip, sip sip at the store. You can not go hours without drinking and staying hydrated. The best of luck to you and a speedy recovery. Congratulations on making a life altering decision for the better.

I tried to go back after one week and my incisions got inflamed and my entire body was sore.

I ended up taking two weeks off. I have a desk job, but I have found sitting straight up for long periods hurts my abdomen and back.

Some people have gone back sooner but it made me sicker.

Had three babies and returned to work the same week. This surg really has got me down.

I would recommend at least three weeks maybe even four, especially if you cannot drink Water on the job. I'm just over four weeks out and I still feel very fatigued and lethargic even though I'm getting all my water and Protein in. I'm a teacher but at least I can sit at my job. I took one week off but needed to take multiple sick days off since then because I've felt so bad.

I returned to work 9 days after surgery part time and full time after 14 days. I have a desk job and sitting for long periods was uncomfortable. Can you ask if they will make an exception for you to drink at your part time job? Not sure how many hours you do there but if a lot the no drinking might be an issue.

I was back to work after 9 days. I have an office job so it was fine. I had no 'no energy' issues afte surgery. I was actually pretty amazed at how awesome I felt. But everyone is different. Hopefully you'll feel great!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
