Not Dropping!

Recommended Posts

I am so confused as to why I have gained 6lbs since surgery on 04.09.2012 and I am not dropping anything. I am still sore and swollen but make sure I walk some and do the bands...not as much though. What am I doing wrong????

Don't panic, your only 9 days out of surgery? Way to early to worry about it! Your body has just undergone major changes - it will need time to adapt. Right now, your calorie consumption is way low, so it is entirely possible that your body is in survival mode and trying to protect its fat stores. Many times in the last year when I have increased calorie intake, I get past a weigh loss plateau and start to shed again.

Also, it is getting warmer and your body may be trying to store up Water against dehydration - so you may just be seeing Water weight.

Good Luck!

Are you getting your Water in? Your body has just under gone major trauma and your stomach is pretty swollen right now. It will happen, the weight will drop off any time soon. Sit back and enjoy the ride. It's going to be bumpy. LOL Make sure that your getting your Fluid intake in. Dehydration is your enemy right now. CONGRATS! ;)

I am managing 30 to 50ozs of Water and 40 to 50g of protein...on a good day. I just feel 7 months pregnant!

I gained too. Like 10lbs and it took a out two weeks before I started seeing a loss then I stalled for two weeks and lost again then gained during my period (always normal for me) then lost. Overall during my almost ten weeks I've yo yo'd and that's been frustrating an I've only lost -18 so far but c'mon two pounds a week loss is still more than I was doing alone so I'm confident eventually that will be a steady loss and in a year it'll all be worth it

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
