Is A Two Week Stall Normal?

Recommended Posts

I lost 15 lbs in my first two weeks, but have not lost anything in the last 5 days. Is this normal?

This is normal for your body to rest. It is most likely adjusting in inches. Have you taken your measurements? If not, this is a great time to do it so you have a baseline. You will be able to measure your loss in inches which is more rewarding to me than lbs. ;)

Yes, it is normal. Here's my warning to you: Do NOT let your diet slip out of frustration. I was in a stall and it has lasted almost 6 weeks. I recently started re evaluating my food and realized I was slipping into a dangerous zone and my weight was just maintaining. The scale has started moving again when I cut back on some things. My "normal" stall turned into "dead in the water." That doesn't happen to everyone, but it CAN. So, just beware. That is all...

I lost about 13lbs in the first 2 weeks. I haven't lost anything since. I'm almost at 5 Weeks. It's hard not to freak out. I'm not exercising yet. And I'm not getting in quite add much Water as I should.

People are telling me that the first month or two can sometimes just be really crazy. Sometimes our bodies just freak out, and don't react the way they we think they should.

But I'm going to focus on water, and I'm going to start slowly adding exercise. And I'm going to try and keep my freak outs to a minimum.

Good luck to both of us! ;)

Almost every one of us hit the two week stall. Weird how our body works. Rest assured though, if you are following your Dr's orders (protein and water), you will continue to lose inches even though you aren't seeing it ont he scale. You will will start losing lbs in no time at all. Good luck!! :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
