Bummed - 67 Pounds Lost And I Look Just The Same

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be out shopping tomorrow so I think I will try on some sizes I can't usually fit into and see what happens. All of my current clothes do have elastic.

Caradina, my hands/wrists and ankles/feet are already thin for my body size. I only wear a size 6 ring and can fit children's bracelets and watches. I also wear narrow shoes. I can't imagine those will change much since I wore the same size ring when I weighed 200 pounds less. I'm a freak of nature.

Clothing sizes can be so misleading. I have a pair of size 16 capri jeans that I stll loose but still wear cuz they're not that loose yet. I just bought a pair of size 12 jeans I can also wear but they are the stretchy kind of jeans. I have several old pair of 12s I can hardly get over my hips. Go shopping try diffeent stuff on even if you dont buy.

Cherry you are singing my song! =) I have been b!tch!n' about this from the beginning. What somebody at the top of the thread said is true, plus size clothes will fit you for 20 pounds, regular sizes about 10. I was still wearing pre-op trousers well past the 50 lbs lost mark and I have a pre-op shirt that I wore to work last week, I've lost 128 pounds! I have a pair of bootcut cords from JCrew in a 12P that I have been wearing for THIRTY pounds now, wtf!=P I found them at a thrift shop for $4 (mega score since they go for $75 new). I had just crossed into one-derland and at 194 lbs I had also officially joined the century club (surgery day weight 294. So those pants mean a lot to me and even though they literally cut off circulation they were so tight lol, I was able to zip and button them and it felt amazing! Obviously they were too tight so, like someone said in this thread, it makes sense that I could lose weight and they would still fit. But it has been 30 pounds now and they are still a little snug IMO, I'm pretty sure that it will take another 20 pounds at least before they are visibly baggy and maybe 30 pounds before they are unwearable which will mean that I will have been wearing the same pair of trousers for SIXTY pounds, wahhh?!!!

Thanks everyone! My clothes do feel looser' date=' but I can still wear them. Other than that, I don't feel or look any different. My family says it looks like I have lost. I just honestly cannot see it no matter how hard I try. I feel like my original fat self and can't wait until I see some change in myself.

I had a very high starting weight. So high that I don't even want to share it. I guess when you start that big it takes more pounds to notice a change. I won't give up, I just needed a pep talk. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Cherry

We have kindred bodies both you and I. I have lost 50 lbs and am still able to fit a size 20 or 22. It is lose but it doesn't drape off of me the way i thought it would. I remember just hoping and praying to lose 10 lbs to see a difference. I definitely know how you feel. I still see a fat chin and well ..a fat person but friends and family swear I'm shrinking. I am even called "Slim" now by coworkers. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was our girth. Stay positive and measure your success by how loose your clothing feels when it used to be skin tight, or notice how you can make it up a flight of stairs without feeling like you are about to have a heart attack. Patience and continuing on this regimen will get you into the skinny jeans you ultimately want to fit in! You're doing an awesome job. 67 lbs is A LOT. Your heart, lungs, liver are thanking you right now! And what someone else said is true. Your muscle mass is buildin, I wore heels the other day and saw thigh and calf muscles flex that I havent ever seen before! I thought whose legs are those?! And it's true plus size clothing is more forgiving. Hang in there and best of luck!

But last week i went to a meeting that was held in a classroom...there was a time when my rump was jammed in the seat and i could never flip that litte desk over my belly...so imagine me praying that no one was watching as i sat down...no creeking chair..ok try the desk...it can fiip over...& i can cross my legs.... thats when i knew that my body had changed .... that was one of the happiest days for me...no scale..no clothes just pure joy!!!

Y'all are all singing my song, too--it took FOREVER for me to see any difference in clothing size (literally 75 pounds or so before I saw a change), and now, bam, bam, bam dropping like crazy, and that's AFTER my weight loss has slowed down! So very bizarre the way our bodies work differently!

I, too, now Celebrate stuff other than pounds off--like fitting into those student desks, sliding easily into booths at restaurants, having to adjust my seat belt in the car, etc. etc. And yeah, one of my favs is losing a size in clothing--when you've been at what I'll charitably call for myself "size huge" for most of your adult life, I think one might be forgiven if a bit of excessive shopping/celebration occurs fairly frequently. (big grin here) Hang in there. It really does take a long time to lose out of plus sizes, but not that long in regular sizes, and that's on its way!!

Oh honey, don't feel bad. You're just beginning! I'm at 100 lbs. down now and I just am starting to think I look better in clothes. I started in size 24 and now I'm in 16. But it took several months before I needed a new size. My old clothes were mostly stretchy so I was just not stretching them as much but could still wear them.

Don't get down. You're doing great. Just think - that's 67 lbs. that you wouldn't have lost otherwise and it only gets better. Measure and take pictures. You will be amazed in a few months!

Cherrybomb, You posted that you wouldnt put your pre-op weight out there for anyone to see. I will. I weight 352 at my absolute highest and I'm knocking on 100 pounds lost. I didn't really drop sizes for a long time. I was in my 3 week stall when I lost my first size, and then it seemed to take months before I lost another size. A few days ago I went to the store to buy workout clothes because mine were embarassingly large, so large in fact that I inadvertently flashed an old man my boobs at the gym the other day! I figured I needed an 18, but bought 16s because they were stretchy workout clothes and I don't want to flash anyone again. The 16s not only fit, they fit well!!! I am going to buy jeans this weekend and I know I'll be trying on everything in sight, just to get a better idea of what fits.

The sizes will drop soon and you'll be amazed at how fast it happens. Lil Miss Diva told me that months ago and I thought she was nuts, but now I know that it happens and it happens so fast our brains cannot keep up. I still see the bigger me in the mirror, but that's not the gal that shows up in pictures these days. I remember thinking "That girl has a waist" when I was looking at my own picture about a month ago. Well, THIS girl has a waist and I have to keep reminding myself of that!! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
