Cant Take Much Time Off From School :/

Recommended Posts

Im a little worried, I'm in school and I can't take two weeks off. I can hardly take a week off so I'm doing a week including a weekend. I'm very diligent when it comes to school and although they give me a drs note.. I lose alot of lectures and such. My labs aren't too bad but I def need my lectures especially for Bio 28 -_- so Im forcing myself to go school literally a few days after surgery. I don't want to wait till summer. And although I'm on spring break right now. My dr had no available dates! I'm sure I'll be okay right? I mean is it extremely painful?

Realisically, you don't need 2 weeks off. . . i took 2 weeks off because i had time at work to do that. . . but the surgeon told me that 3 - 4 days would be sufficient. but of course, it depends on how your body reacts to the surgery of course. . . good luck

I started grad school on a Monday and had surgery on Wednesday (plus a fully time job and kids) :) And I was able to keep up with the schoolwork ok. I would definitely try and do your work when you are feeling ok; but you definitely feel tired all of a sudden :) Good luck!

A week should be ok. The second week is not so much about pain, but rather just feeling weak and tired. You might not be starving on a liquid diet post-sleeve, but you will still feel worn out.

I had my surgery on a Monday and took my last painkiller Friday night of that same week. My last daytime painkiller was on a Wednesday.

You could definitely go back within one week but like other posters have said you will be weak and tired. I did surgery durin spring break and when I went back it was a struggle to carry books around, walk through campus, but mainly to focus. Our brains need calories to pay attention focus and comprehend.

You can definitely do this just be prepared. I got rides to the diff parts of campus for the first couple weeks and also go to school with all your protein/vitamins and everything u need so ur not left hungry with no options. A rolling backpack also can help so ur not carrying the additional weight.

Good luck ! You will love your sleeve.

I took a week and two days off and returned to work just fine. You should be fine. As soon as your able to take your Vitamins and shakes take them because you will be weak the first week. You will feel fine then after a shower you may need to rest in the beginning. Just listen to your body.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
