Banded 3/22 New to forum

Recommended Posts

Hi I was banded on 3/22 and today went for my 3rd fill. I was banded by Dr. Spivak. Weight at surgery was 268 now I am 248. This has been a slow process for me. I have the small band and was filled with Omnipack today and was filled to 3.2. As I sit here right now I am gurgling. But just the first day. We will see. I want it to go quicker. Hopefully now it will.

Hi,

I was banded on March 17, 2006 by dr. spivak. The weight loss has been slow for me also. You see all the people on the board saying that they've lost 40-50lbs and were banded the same time we were. I'm wondering if 20lbs were water(not being funny) but even before my band i was active and I thought with the band it would enhance the weight loss a tad bit quicker but it hasnt. I'va lost only 18lbs. I'm starting to believe that this was not the right decision for me. I am self pay and for $15,000.00 and little to no weight loss since march--lets just say Im very frustrated now. Hell, I could have paid $5,000.00 more and gotten the bypass and well on my way. And for others that are reading this I dont need to hear its a tool blah blah blah I often wonder would you all would feel the same way if you shelled this kind of money out. Its easy to be positive and optimistic when your insurance paid for everything!! Needless to say, I hope the omipack works for you and I think I'm going to request it for my next fill to see if it makes a difference.

I would be mad and depressed too, if I've only lost 18 lbs and paid $15g's:grouphug:

I am a self pay as well....no insurance help AT ALL....totally excluded for me!! But.........I am losing well and it's been very helpful for me!!!! I am so sorry you are struggling!! :) I don't have any magic....will pray for you and maybe suggest you re-look at what your doing and see if there is truly room for improvement!! This is NOT easy....NOT magic ....I wish it were....but the bypass isn't either. I have a friend that did the bypass and she must follow similiar rules and also has other things to deal w/ that banded patients don't. It's AWFUL when we look to something as being the "answer" and it seemingly fails...HANG IN THERE!!!! Don't give up!!! YOu can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God Bless,

Melody

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
