Well I started this jouney on December 11, 2011 with my initial visit. I did 3 months of weighins (don't know if that is how you spell that). I completed the requirements of an EKG, Heart MRI, Upper GI, Bloodwork during those 3 months. My surgery was approved by my insurance company the first submission on March 22, 2012. I have a surgery date set for April 30, 2012 at Innova Hospital in San Antonio. Once i got approved my doctor ordered more blood work and another EKG, now my EKG has come back as borderline ECG. Now i have to go see a cardiologist. I hope this doesn't set my surgery date back. Has anyone else had this happen?

Sounds to me like you will need cardiac clearance is all. My dad went through (almost) the same thing. It's mostly a paperwork issue. And of course your surgeon wants to be sure that your heart can handle the surgery. Im thinking you'll just need the clearance from the cardiologist though. Keep your head up and good luck.

This happens more than you think. It could be absolutely nothing, but they are covering their bases. Many times, it really is nothing. The cardiologist may do a stress test and etc and then say your heart is perfect. Even if there is a issue, you can still probably get approved for surgery if there is a treatment plan in place. If you can get in to see the cardiologist quickly, it shouldn't set back your surgery date. I have seen a few people get their surgery dates set back by waiting on cardiology clearance. Just make sure you get in to see the cardiologist ASAP and stay on top of them to send the clearance over to your surgeon immediately.

Thanks for the replies. Have meeting with the Cardiologist tomorrow so I will see how it goes.

This exact thing happened to me. My EKG was abnormal. I saw a cardiologist yesterday and the EKG he did was perfect, said the other one likely came back abnormal because a sticker-thing wasnt kn right. He said I have to do a stress test (tomorrow at 7AM!) and then he'll clear me. I've heard the stress test is a doozie... guess I'll know in about 8 hours! Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
