Help With Lack Of Energy For Soccer And Hard Exercise

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I have been playing soccer 2 times a week. One is 60 minutes, other is 90 minutes. I have asthma, but its not bad and I would not say my asthma is not contributing to my lack of energy. I am finding that about 30 minutes in I am dead, pretty much can't do much running, can't keep up and feel so tired. Right now I intake about 800 calories, 70-90 g Protein. Could it be that I need to start intaking more calories or carbs or something? I am not in maintenance yet and still have like 20-30lbs to lose.

Thanks for any help.

I'm 7 months post op and just started upping my exercise. I followed some advice from PDX Man about adding in more good carbs. Right now, that means I'm adding fruit to my routine..bananas mostly. I've also eaten a few whole grain crackers and mini bread rounds with Peanut Butter on them. I eat this about 30-60 minutes before I go to the gym and I've noticed an increase in energy.

Good luck!! :)

Have slow carbs as your last pre-workout meal (e.g. steel-cut oats) and drink juice or Gatorade during the game. Any time you are working for longer than an hour, you should be taking in some extra calories; drinking them would be easiest, naturally.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
