My Sleeve Is Showing Me Who The Boss Is!

Recommended Posts

I have been feeling so good the past 2 weeks I decided the post-op diet was just more of a suggestion! I got a little tired of full liquids and decided to have a few teaspoons of Peanut Butter. I literally broke out in a cold sweat and thought I was going to lose my Cookies a few minutes later. Maybe these Dr's really do know what they are talking about. Hello chicken broth.......

I'm glad I read this cause I was thinking grits and eggs are sort of liquid lol

Dont push the post-op diet too hard. Your sleeve may not tell you that it's hurting because the nerves have been numbed by surgery. You don't want to push it until you cause a leak.

DDFinn, I'm glad yours said WHOA... and patience is a virture. Soon you'll be back on regular food and this will all fade from your mind. :)

Hey DD ... I know the feeling! I snuck a few of my daughter's goldfish.. had about 10 of them.. and I swear on the 10th one - I actually Heard MY stomach gurgle - and it was like slow motion.... As I put the last one in my mouth, the others were making their way back up! Girl, I had the shakes, the sweats... I was in the bathroom, thinking I don't know whether to Sh*t or go blind!!! I mean I was in the bed for 30 minutes thinking.. did goldfish really just take me out????? well, I may end up extending my "liquid" phase even longer because the thought of something non-liquid gives me the willies!

BTW, weighed myself today, and I'm down exactly 16 pounds since 3/9.. woo hoo!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
