I have introduced myself at introductions. I am from Turkey. I have been thinking about the vsg but it was a very difficult decision for me. Finally I have made my decision. As a luck I have seen one of my Facebook friend had an operation. I have contacted with her and got her surgeons name. I have given him a call and get a appointment for next day at 9am.. . I have met with my doctor on 6th of March. First he took some information about me and told me that he does not do lap band. He is only doing gastric sleeve for last 2,5 year. Than he has asked about my regular daily diet. What I eat. Unfortunately I am a big carb eater. I love bread, pizza, Pasta etc. then his second bomb came. “If you don’t quit this eating habit, this operation will not work for you. So you better forget them. Also you need to think about what you want, what you can do.”

I knew that I should not eat them after operation but hearing from him was harsh. Than third bomb came; “I don’t do operations to everyone. I need you to do 2-3 weeks diet, than we will discuss what we can do. I need to see what you will be done” this was a shock to me because, I did not read any pre operation diet at Turkish forums and my friend did not mentioned it. I was more likely thinking that I would have the test done that week and have the operation next week.

So I have my next appointment on Monday. I have 4 more days left and I have just lost 5kg(11lb) I was hoping to lost more weight. I am on my period, so I am hoping that some more will go off soon.

I have only 4 days left and I am really worried what if he won’t accept to do operations. When I read here, people wait for months. I know I am being selfish but when I have done my decision and I got my motivation, I want to have it done.

Actually if he accepts, than I have to go thru test and consultation with several departments. Than if all of them agree, I can have my operation. But this is the second step.

I am so nervous about Monday’ appointment.

Hang in there! The fact that you have lost 12lbs already should show him that you are serious about wanting to make the changes. Just stick to the diet plan he has given you and keep the faith! ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
