Six Months Is Way Too Long

Recommended Posts

I've began my journey to have surgery in december. I have HIP insurance & this 6 months process is taking forever. I can't wait to finally loose this weight & be normal again.

They mandate that to try to discourage you. Hand in there and carry on! Play their game and win!

Agreed. The waiting period takes forever. Hang in there.

Trust me. It goes by so fast. In may it will be a year and I'm still working on my pre op tests. Hoping for a april/may surgery date

Use this time to mentally and physically prepare yourself. Research and ask all the questions you want. Don't ever give up.

I feel so ready and all of my questions have been answered.

Best of luck :)

6 months really does fly by! Think about where you were 6 months ago... Doesn't seem that long ago does it? Hang in there, you got this!!

Let me tell you, I don't think anybody plays more games than Kaiser! I won't bore you with the details of the ordeal I went thru with them but I finally prevailed!!!! My journey has been going on for well over a year and a half and I FINALLY, FINALLY just recently received a surgery date. I know they were just waiting for me to give up but it was not gonna happen!!!!! Hang in there. It will be so worth it in the end (I'm hoping - LOL).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
