Meljp, I woke up from surgery with tons of energy that hasn't really flagged yet. The more weight I lose and exercise I do, the more energy I seem to have. Strange how that works, hmmm?

I was pooped till about month 4. I really lagged in the energy dept. and I ate correctly, got in the recommended water/protein/calories/vitamins and exercised. It does pass though. I feel great now and have for a long time.

This was the worst part of surgery for me. I was so weak I could hardly walk to the kitchen or bathroom with out feeling faint. Part of it was that my blood pressure dropped drastically so I upped my salt intake. And part of it was that I had a very hard time getting in enough calories. I was only at 200-300 for the first 2 months. Before the surgery I had stalked up on tons of different kinds of Protein Shakes and powders. But they all made me gag. I had to find ways to get Protein that didn't over fill my tiny, very restrictive sleeve. At about 10 weeks, things finally turned around for me when I was able to eat a little more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
