Yup..just A Little Obsessed

Recommended Posts

Surgery is on Thursday. I already have an obsessive nature and would check this forum and a few others daily. Now down to the last three days and I am overly obsessing. Refreshing the page every 15 minutes LOL Ive already cleaned my work area THOROUGHLY lol I even have my nook with me (My job is very sedentary, and I have a LOT of free time) and I still can't seem to stay focused.

What did you do to keep your mind off things and stop obsessing? I have already organized everything I can possibly organize.

My surgery is Wednesday. I've been keeping busy by doing some exercise at home, weights and squats. Nothing to over the top since I'm on the pre-op diet of very little calories. But I started feeling like I was losing muscle tone, so I started doing 10 pound bicep curls and such. I've also been shopping. I figured the walking would do some good. I bought little bowls for my food, rather than using huge bowls or plates. I also bought some sugar free syrups for my Protein Shakes and cream of wheat. Maybe you should get out of the house and do something. The walking will do you some good.

I don't know that I STOPPED obsessing before the surgery. I was consumed. I was on this site constantly just looking for comfort or reassurance, but mostly found myself drawn to the posts that had to do with complications, further freaking myself out. I prayed a LOT. It was the only thing that gave me any comfort. I also made lists. Making lists helps me feel like i'm in control of something.

I am at work literally 11 hours a day, which isn't helping my obsessing much cuz I literally do NOTHING most of the day.

My surgery is next Tuesday - Im constantly on this forum - and I'm at work right now. Haha I read a bunch of negative VSG stuff the other day on here and I won't be doing that again!

I'm trying to remain calm eventhough I'm terrified!!!

I am completely consumed.

Ya, try hard to stay away from complications posts right before surgery. Just focus on your surgeon's record and be confident that you've chosen the best one for you.

I obsessed over everything just like you described. I spent a lot of time looking at everyone's pictures of before and after. That was so motivating. You are about to go through a major life changing event so I think it is only natural to have your mind consumed with that right now.

Good luck with your surgery!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
