Ot: Sizing Charts Suck. Apple Shaped Women, What Are Your Measurements And Your Size?

Recommended Posts

Was going to buy something online from Torrid, and those charts are NEVER accurate. For example when I was 192-200 (did cardio and strength training) my measurements were 46-37-46 and I wore a 14 in jeans, and would buy 1x/2x tops from Torrid because of my big boobies (38ddd.) According to the Torrid charts a 14 is 34 inch waist, lol!. I am an apple/rectangular shaped person and I wear my jeans at my waist, not low rise or anything.

Now, I'm 5'6, 283, and I wear a 22 jeans, and 22/24 tops from Lane/Ashley. My measurements are 56-50-56. I know brands vary between misses, women, and juniors. I usually buy from Torrid, and I wonder if Torrid is considered a juniors plus store? I digress. I have also noticed it elsewhere, where a person's actual waist size in inches doesn't match the size, i.e. a size 6 with 31 inch waist. Long story short, what are your true measurements and what size do you wear? Include your height. Thanks/

I'm a 20 bottom and 1X top.... at 52, 42, 56. I'm super curvy though, not apple shaped, 5'9. Size charts have nothing to do with reality.

Apple shaped - you should go in and try your clothing on! I am a cross between an apple and a triangle (not a pear, think with the pear stem down).

I go in when I can, but I HATE shopping. lol. You have big bewbs too (I had reduction surgery at about 18 but even at a "C" I couldn't buttin shirts across the chest that fit in the waist with alot to spare.

I find, in an educated guess just based on what I see and read, we "other than pears" loose differently, and begin to take on a toally different shape to an extent. I would say I am getting into the "retangle".

Hmmm - not necessarily what you asked sorry...

Nope, you did not answer my question, lol. It did make me laugh because you didn't answer it. There is no Torrid where I live so I only buy online. I hate shopping. The lines, the crowd, and with coupon codes its wayyyyy cheaper online than stores, especially Lane you get coupons all the time.

I do buy my tops to accommodate for the "girls." I do also wonder what my shape would go to once smaller. I do know that I'll probably still be an apple because my boobies will always be bigger, I believe. It's a big boobie family I have.

Some have both butt, and boobie. I don't.

Im 5'4" tall and I started out at 234 and my measurements were 44,41,52. Now I weigh 163.6 and my measurements are 38,32,40. So from a pear to an hourglass is kinda where I went. I was an hourglass when I was in college at 36,24,36. I hope to make it back there someday. BRICK HOUSE! Woot!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
