I was so excited about starting my journey some time this month but today I received a call from the place where I will be having and they finally explain the process that the doctor first has to look through all my lab work to see if I am a candidate, once that's complete she will send it to be approve for surgery. Here I am thinking I was finally getting closer to my surgery and it's going to take any where from 2-6 weeks. :-( just wanted to vent my frustrations!

Hang on in there it will come sooner than you think. Sometime you have to jump all the huddles to get to the finish line. I have been waiting since Oct. 2010 and finally I will get my day at the end of April.

Even though I understand how you feel but it will get better and the days will fly bye quickly. And we will be sleeved.

I am in the starting process and I wanted this done like yesterday! I am so very impatient! But I guess I have no choice but to wait :( So I know how you feel!

I think most of us kow how you feel, but think of the others who have been actively pursuing their goal for more than a year or more. It takes time, but it's easier said than done. Patience isn't one of my virtues either!

Thanks and your right I remember in September they told me I had to go through the six month regiment with my primary doctor and how quickly that happen, now just a few more weeks, the point is that I'm going in the right direction.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
