I just ate a two small bites of sugar free whipped cream and a SF Jello and felt faint, weak, shaky, and sweaty, and maybe a little queazy, I am assuming this is dumping... am I right? Now my intestines are mad and making noises. The whipped cream was sugar free but not Fat free- please don't hate on me if this was a mistake, I am just looking for some nice girl advise.

Hmmm...I wouldn't think so. But maybe - I had some "pushing through" once and the Soup was high on fat. I had been eating the reduced fat kind and a regular pouch was mixed in by accident.

I wonder what the others think...

You describe exactly the symptoms I call "dumping." I get it with sugar-fat combination foods, but everybody is different. Even if it wasn't "dumping," it doesn't sound pleasant or like something you want to repeat, am I right? :-) If you hadn't eaten anything before that, try a few bites of yogurt or cottage cheese (some protein) before taking a bite of the jello/topping combo and see if that helps. Hang in there, too--sometimes the stuff that bothers us early on is very well tolerated in a couple of weeks/months.

When you dump, you literally dump the food out of your body. You do have these other symptoms with it, but dumping is exactly what happens. I have had dumping syndrome for over 13 years. Mine is related to having my gallbladder removed. I have been treated with several different drugs over the years, but none of them have stopped it. Mine is not caused or dependent of any kind of diet either. I can drink Water and dump. It comes on within one drink or bite at times. It is very uncomfortable and inconvenient. So let me put your mind at ease. Unless the porcaline throne is becoming your most popular seat in the house, you are not dumping. Thank your lucky stars!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
