I thought this forum was specifically for those struggling and with complications. I'm happy for you that you are doing great but I think that posting about how well you're doing in a sub forum for people having a hard time is a bit insensitive.

while a lot of complications are caused by not following instructions, that's not always the case. Some people follow instructions to the letter and still end up with complications. Please don't think that because you're having an easy recovery thus far that its going to be that way for everyone. Every person gets a different amount of pain and every person handles pain differently. Just because someone says they have pain, severe or not, does not mean they're looking for attention. They have PAIN. I was a fortunate person that didn't. I knew I wouldn't have much - I never do. I have an extremely high threshold for pain, which means i will NEVER judge someone for their pain tolerance or lack thereof. Comorbidities also contribute to pain factor. Diabetics and those with sleep Apnea and High Blood pressure are known to recover slower due to those issues.

Please leave the complications forum for those that actually have complications. While its good that you don't thus far, and I hope you never do, There are plenty of other places for your post.

I came out of surgery feeling like a rock star- in fact I even posted in the forums that I felt like a rock star.

5 days later I had horrible pain. 6 days later I was in agony with a fever. 7 days later I was admitted to the hospital with a postoperative infection in my sleeve- after doing every single thing right. I'm still recovering from that and still have pain because of everything.

No matter how great you feel today- you never know what tomorrow will bring.

My surgeon was Howard Simon- and I just want to say that he is seriously a rock star. I was hospitalized on and off almost the entire month of Feb and he was amazing through it all. He never once tried to minimize the pain I was in and ordered test after test after test. I had more leak tests in 1 month than most people have in a lifetime! He never gave up on finding an answer and that tenacity paid off. Now I have my moments when my sleeve will vehemently reject something I've eaten but 99% of the time I feel great. I can already eat pretty much anything I want just in small quantities and slowly but surely the weight is coming off.

For the first time in nearly 2 months I can honestly say I'm glad I got the surgery.

Bedhead - I'm glad you are doing better. Complications are tough to handle especially when you do all the things you're supposed to.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
