Heightened Hunger During Tom

Recommended Posts

Sorry if TMI. I'm having the period from hell. I'm surprised that I'm not anemic. Last night I had to eat another small meal - or felt like I really needed it.

I forgot to take my Iron that day. I will take them all today. Has anybody else had this happen?

I was so overweight for so long that I had irregular periods for years and even when I had them they lasted 1 day and were mild. After surgery almost immediately I began having regular periods and they all last 3-4 days and are heavy. I also noticed that I am hungry around that time. I never noticed an increase in my hunger before surgery but that was b/c I was always hungry! there was never a moment before this surgery that I wasn't famished or starving. I think if it increased at tom I woudln't have noticed b/c I was constantly hungry regardless. this is the first time in my life I feel like a normal woman. I've heard others talking about getting hungry around TOM but to me that was an every day occurence. Now I actually feel normal!

I had very regular periods before the surgery as far as cycle goes, but they were always very intense, and very painful. The days fluxuated but predictably (moderate 1st, xxx heavy 2nd, heavy3rd&4th).

Only had two so far after and one followed JUST after and was early, I was on pain meds still so I don't know if the pain was bad or not, lol. The next was like clockwork again - but ligher and I don't think I hurt as much.

Never had pain with the cycle after the age of 12-13 or so. Mine are like clockwork and a standard 3-4 days. My daughter has painful periods though. I got the surprise early one a week after surgery. Lo and behold: 28 days later on the mark.

Like Holly, I was always hungry so this is a new thing. I better look up good foods to eat during TOM before I have a carb binge (as much as the sleeve will allow). What I really wanted was chocolate so I should have had the SF pudding that was in the fridge.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
