I dont know if i am doing the right things. I had my surgery on sept. 27,2005. I started out out at 272lbs. since then i have yo-yo'd a little bit and am now down to 200lbs. Should'nt i have lost more weight then that? I feel like i am stuck and getting depressed. i have been drinking dunkin Decaf coffee that is the only new thing I have been doing..

Could the decaf coffees im drinking be doing it?:help:

That's 72lbs!! I would say you're right on target. The AVERAGE weight loss with the band is 50-100lbs per year. You're smack in the middle of that. Great job! You're nearly crossing into ONEDERLAND!!! Don't give up now. Decaf coffee probably has nothing to do with it unless you're adding lots of cream and sugar. Unfortunately, once you get down nearer to goal, you begin having to apply more of your own tactics. Watching the intake closer, turning up the volume on exercise, etc. But from here, it seems you're headed in the right direction! 72lbs in less than a year is awesome! Now, we need to see pics. ;)

I think it sounds like you are doing great!!! Are you exercising? Sometimes a little more Water and a little more *movement* will get things going again. I am basing this on what I have read here and what I am trying to do, as my scale seems stuck lately, too.

Good luck!

NJSunshine, If you are NJ girl, there is a thread in NJ support that you might like to hang out in for fun and, well, support!

You are doing great...don't be depressed! Most of the people who were banded in July 2005 (when I was) have lost about 70ish pounds, so I think you're doing really good.

You may have hoped and tried for more, but don't get down on yourself and ignore the accomplishments you have made! That's a recipe for sabotage, and you do not want to go there.

Stick to it, you've got the rest of your life!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
