Hi all!

I am six weeks post VSG and everything is going well! My only issue is I have had a sudden onset of what I am assuming is restless leg syndrome. Every night when I go to bed it takes me hours to fall asleep because of the extremely uncomforable urge to move my legs. I can be completely exhausted, and the urge is still there keeping me awake!! I am wondering if this is related to my surgery. Maybe the increase in my metabolism or something. Anyone else experienced this??

Strange, I haven't seen this as a side effect of the surgery before. You may want to try Magnesium supplements, I take them for muscle cramps and twitches and it helps in the bathroom dept too. Congrats on being sleeved.

OMG I am five weeks post-op and experiencing the same EXACT thing. I have resorted to taking half a xanex every night just to get to sleep because my legs want to move and move... its almost like it is painful.

I had this happen to me after my hysterectomy. Years later a new primary doctor told me it could have been due to low Iron. He said that I might have lost a lot of blood during surgery. It went away after a while. Sorry can't remember how long, but it was weeks rather than days. It didn't happen with VSG. Talk to your surgeon and/or primary doctor. Don't suffer through it like I did. Please tell us what they say.

I've had rls for about 20 years,,due to whatever. Potassium is a good remedy but most important,,do not wait till you are exhausted to try laying down to sleep. Go to bed when you are tired,,if you wait too long, it is much worse.

I do get RLS and I've had it since I can remember. I've never personally gone to see the Dr. about it, because I personally only seem to get it when I'm not working out. If I miss more than 2 days my legs go crazy. It's the oddest most bizarre feeling. I think it was passed on to me from my father - he has it too.

Perhaps try and get a brisk walk in every night. Just do it a few hours before bed time or the adrenaline from walking will keep you up too.. :)

longer-life mentions a correlation between that and low Iron. It's quite possible because I'm anemic and I've been anemic forever. So I can't say that's not it.

Good luck!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
