Scared To Stop Liquids

Recommended Posts

Today is day 8 post op. I have done very well & can tolerate my Isopure & Water very easy. But now I can move forward to cream Soups, pudding & full Protein Shakes. - problem is, because my sleeve is so new- I dont know what a "full" feeling is. Im afraid of vomiting or over filling my new sleeve. I know to go slow - anyone have any suggestions ?

You will feel the restriction some with creamy liquids but not as much as with puréed food or solids. For me the "full" feeling is kind of a tightening in my chest as though I need to burp. As far as creamy stuff went I am able to get my whole Protein Shake down but only about 1/2 cup of creamy Soups at a time. I think it's a temperature thing. Anyway, hope this helps!! Just take it slow and you'll be fine!

i was the same way. I was sleeved on 1/23 and I just had one scrambled egg with a little cheddar cheese and I'm so full that I feel sick. I have to definitely work on stopping before I become over full....not a good feeling!

I was sleeved 5 days ago on 2/6- I had chicken gnocchi Soup blended well yesterday. It was divine!! I was able to get in less than a cup over 4 hours. You will definitely feel the restriction! I used to be able to down 2 bowls easy in one sitting!

I also had 1/3 a cup of cream of wheat for Breakfast this morning and again I was definitely full after that tiny amount.

I'm 12 days post op and have been able to eat a 4 oz. container of yogurt with no problem. I also had one scrambled egg and it was just the right amount. Today I had the refried Beans with a sprinkle or cheese and tsp. of NF sour cream that everyone says tastes so good. I did! but I ate the 14-1/3 cup too fast, I think, and I was seriously FULL. Now I know the uh-oh, my new stomach is filled to the brim feeling!!

I find that liquids don't really fill me up, unless its really thick. Granted I never drank more than 4-6 oz of broth or blended Soup. I feel the restriction more when its a dense Protein like cheese, or fish, I can only eat about 2-2.5 oz of those.

When I feel full my chest starts feeling tighter, and I will start burping.

Like Paola, I don't find that thin liquids fill me up quickly. I had a bowl of egg drop Soup and almost finished the hole thing. I did not rush eating it, though. I sipped it over about 20-30 minutes or so. With cream Soups, about a 1/3 cup and I was satisfied.

The key is to eat/drink slowly and gauge how you're feeling. For me, when I feel satisfied, I just stop regardless of how much or how little I've consumed. Like you, I figure I'd rather be safe than sorry. My goal is to try to get through this process without puking (sorry if that's tmi).

I was sleeved on 2/29 and I'm am in the creamy side of the post op diet and I too have felt the feeling of being too full and it hurts so much. My only thing is I set a goal before surgey to drink 96 to 100 oz of Water a day and now I can't even get a whole bottle of water down so I end up eating a ton ( maybe 6/8 ) SF Popsicle just to feel satisfied. Am I crazy?!?!? I am still trying to figure this stuff out on my own since I was sleeved in Mexico and do not have a support group here!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
