Chest Pains! What To Do?

Recommended Posts

Hey there! Today makes 5 weeks post op. On Saturday, I tried to have grilled chicken and cheese. It gave me horrible heart burn. But since then I have the nausea feeling. Every time I try to eat, I get horrible chest pains followed by vomiting. I can't even do Water or finish a Popsicle. I'm calling the doc but I wanted to know if any of you had this.

I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad. I think the best thing would be for you to call your doc asap! I had a similar problem about 4 weeks out. As I was talking to the nurse, I realized that I had forgotten to take my protinix for several days. They told me to take them twice a day for about a week, but if I didn't start to feel better, then I would need to come in. So hopefully, it will be something simple like that for you also.

Please keep us posted!

Annette

As stated already - CALL THE DOC ASAP. If they can't see you right away PLEASE GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. YOu can get very sick very fast if you get dehydrated.

Please take car of yourself!

Riss, Sounds like you might have something caught at the top of your sleeve. It's one of the reasons that we are told to chew our food to mush, especially very early post-op. The esophagus (sp?) is swollen leading into the sleeve and it is possible for something to catch there. Please call the doc/or go to the ER right away. Since you're not even able to swallow Water, it may be a blockage.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
