Meat Just Ain't What It Used To Be

Recommended Posts

Thanks! I do love this, because the dip is kinda sweet and spicy too. But not too hot. I actually crave this stuff, and it's a great party/ballgame appetizer too. I am a sauce girl too, and it makes our lives as sleevers so much easier and tastier haha. Plain Greek Yogurt is a great replacement for sour cream in any of the dips.

OMG!! Printing this recipe now! This sounds devine! I cannot have bacon yet, but when I can, IT'S ON! I may try the mustard recipe now. I am a sauce girl.

Thanks for sharing!

Prime rib does sound good! I haven't had trouble with any of the meat I've tried and find it very tasty. Especially after 3 weeks of liquids. But, I am worried about carbs. I can eat so little that by the time I get Protein in, I can't handle anything else. I've only had a bite of veggies here and there. I am worried about being in this state of ketosis for so long. I went back to drinking a Premier shake everyday (*shaking fist* I vowed to be done with shakes) so that I can get that large dose of protein in at one time. Hoping that maybe I could squeeze in some veggies along the way.

My hubby made dinner last night because I worked late.. He made turkey burgers in the oven with low fat gravy. It was wonderful and not dry at all.. Sometimes the ground turkey gets to dry. We had it with some mashed potatoes.. I have found I have to have something on my meat to help it go down better.. chicken I dip in low fat mayo for example. I'm almost 8 wks out and down 28 pounds. Everything tastes different now!! it's crazy.. tomorrow night we got a small steak to split for valentine day.. I won't eat but a bite or two but I'm looking forward to it. We have not had red meat in months. He does not have a weight problem but has changed his eating habits for me so it will be a treat for him too. Take care and you are not alone with your new taste buds!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
