I think you're liable to find quite a few very different responses to your question. I, for instance, eat five or six times a day; my sleeve doesn't hold much at all, even at 9 months out, so I eat "mini-meals" and eat frequently.

You should definitely follow your physician's plan; if you find your sleeve won't tolerate that, you may have to make some adjustments. Best wishes to you!

My plans is for three meals per day. I eat three meals per day, plus one soy latte when I first get up and an occasional mid-afternoon or after dinner snack. On most days, I am able to get in enough Protein and calories in 3 meals per day plus latte.

Thank you Meg, I figure I will. I guess for the most part I wanted to see if there are those out there making it on just 3 meals. With that being said my surgeon wants me to do 3 meals no Snacks, but then my NUT tells me she doesn't want me starving and if i determine i am truly happy she would prefer i have a healthy snack.< /p>

My sleeve is so small right now I don't see anyway to get all my Protein in on just 3 meals.

You will definitely find what your body tells you what works for you. some days I take in 3 meals no in between and other days I do small meals every 2-3 waking hours. On those days, Im breaking up my 3 meals to eat during the day. I still make sure my meals meet the Protein minimum and get in my liquids.

I agree that everyone is different with the amounts of food that people can eat. I would say that I eat more than 3 times a day but I do eat Breakfast, linch and dinner at set times as I do not get hungry but I know that I have to eat. It also depends on what I am eating and how much Protein and calories are in the food that I eat at those 3 meals. If I decide to have a 100 calories shake with 14g protein then I know that I will be eating in between my regular meals in order to get my fluids, protein and calories. I was stalled for weeks until I increased my calorie intake and then I started to lose again. Guess my body thought that I was starving and did not want to give up the weight until I increased those calories. I am still under 1000 per day and I am going on 7 weeks post op. Depending on what I eat I would say that I get about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at my 3 basic meals.....but as you will find out each person is different.

Hi,

I'm struggling to get in enough calories. I'm eating three meals a day and my protein is fine, but I can't get in more than around 350 calories. What did you eat that raised your caloric intake?

Thanks!

Sorry I should have mentioned that early out, I also had a Protein Drink to get in enough Protein per day. So I had three little meals, and a Protein shake after dinner if I was short on protein, which I was every day till I was a couple of months out at least. So, about four weeks out, a day looked like:

Breakfast: 1/2 cup fat-free plain greek yogurt, with a little splenda, 1/8 cup cantelope

Lunch: 1 oz. low fat ham lunch meat, 1 Babybel light cheese, 1 saltine cracker, 1/8 cup green Beans

Dinner: 1/2 cup split pea Soup, 1 oz. low fat ham lunch meat

After dinner: Protein powder mixed with soy milk

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
