Since Tuesday I have had a pain on my left side under my rib cage. Yesterday I started to get cramps in the same area any time I ate anything - including drinking Water.

I could drink gatorade yesterday without the cramps but today no such luck.

I am hoping just pulled a muscle or something but I am thinking I need to go to my doctor. However its Sunday and I really don't relish a trip to the ER and having to explain to 100 residents about the gastric sleeve.

Any advice?

Can you call you Dr? Sometimes they have an answering service who can contact them. How far out are you? I had left side and left shoulder pain - the shoulder pain was because of a leak, the side pain went away when they discovered the leak also but I am not sure if it was a symptom of it. I would call - especially if you can't drink - don't want to get dehydrated.

Make the trip to the ER. If you could drink without pain, I'd say wait until tomorrow, but it sounds like it could be serious. Call your doc's office and let them know what's going on, but you need to make the trip. I'm sure you just needed someone to agree with your own leanings, and I do. Better to explain to the resident than get to make that trip in an ambulance.

Lol, Libbe, I guess I'm following you around today. That's twice we've been posting at the same time! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
