1St Time Vomiting, Is This Normal?

Recommended Posts

I ate either too fast or something that didn't sit well with me. I drank some Water and up it came, then up came the food. I felt a tug, has anyone else had this experience?

I was told by my NUT and doc's office to wait 30 minutes before and after food. They said that drinking with meals with cause us to throw up. It's not a pleasant thing. Hang in and try to wait before drinking at lease 30 minutes. ;)

I was told the same thing as dorrie... Best thing for me is to get up & move around... if I ate to fast or somethings not agreeing with me! And drinking pushes the food through your system to fast & you won't get the nutrients your body needs! Good luck & eat slow tiny, bites...

I have never vomited since I had the sleeve a month ago. I have felt uncomfortable because I either ate too fast or too much. I also do not drink immediately before or after I eat as I was also told not to. Plus I think that if you drink after that it puts more pressure on the food that you have eaten and may increase the risk of vomiting.

I am happy to say that I have not vomited since I had my band removed and the sleeve performed. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
