walgreens make a scar cream that I found to work pretty good. They also carry other scar creams that are much more expensive but have never tried them as I am cheap. It is never too late and you may be able to get some softening or fading of the scars. I figure that it is all worth a try......Good luck and congrats on your surgery

Most all the creams / solutions are just snake oil. Scarring is casued by the severity of the incision and the way it healed. If it was cut well and sealed well there will be very little scarring - that is if you are genetically predisposed to NOT scar. I tend to scar like crazy and have scars all over from simple littl ecuts I've gotten but my large incision for the HSG closed very nicely and at 13 months out is hard to see.

The silicone scar sheets tend to work as they physically flatten the scar and push it in. Some work well if you react to the process well, some may not stick at all which make them useless. All you can do it try.

I used mederma exactly as suggested on the box. The process was tedious, but the results were great!! My scars were white by month 12. I used two tubes so the cost was not a factor, even though I was put off by the price.

I recommend this product if you can follow as directed. I doubt it works otherwise. And it is entirely possible that olive oil or vit e cream would have achieved the same if used 3x per day.

Good luck!

Be careful to spot test. I found that I was allergic to a few of the scar removal products.

I use cocoa butter. Found it in stick form. Dr says that's good & Vitamin E oil is good too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
