Hi, I'm 3 months post op and I eat about 600-800 calories a day. I had an appointment with my NUT and she told me I need to eat 12000 calories now. I can hardly eat what I'm eating right now, and I tried to increase my food and it is really uncomfortable. Can you share with me how much you consume? It would be really helpful. I really don't want to starve myself (in which I'm not), and I don't want to stretch my sleeve either. I do need to increase my Protein though. I can actually eat anything I want, nothing bothers my stomach. I am so afraid that I will stop losing and actually gain weight from eating 12000 calories. Thanks everyone.....banghead.gif

I have the same problem. I'm almost a year out and I eat around 800-850 calories, and that's when I force myself to eat dessert, too. For a long time I only got about 600 calories a day. I think as long as you're eating foods with the nutrients you need, you'll be okay. 1200 calories is a LOT! I told my doctor that there's no way in hell I can get that much in unless he want me to completely stretch my sleeve out.

I am 4.5 months out and I usually eat around 1000 - 1200 calories a day; I had to start doing this as when I was eating under 900 and then burning 400 at the gym, that wasn't working so well. I feel good at 1000 or so..and I love love love myfitnesspal.com to help me track everything. :)

I'm not quite 3 months out.

I get around 400-800 calories a day. And 70-80 grams a Protein. I just had my 3 month check up with my NUT, and they never even mentioned that I should up my calories. So I'm not even going to try. As long as I am getting the required Protein in and taking my Vitamins...all is good as far as I am concerned. My blood work is good and my weight is flying off. :)

I don't think it would be beneficial to force yourself more food than you can comfortably handle. I know the doctors I see and the NUT, aren't always on the same page either.....

I totally agree!

I eat 1400 a day usually. But I drink a large latte a day that has 1/4 of my calories accounted for.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
