what is this feeling?

Recommended Posts

Hi all I am on day three of being banded. I am on full liquids, so I made some homemade veggie Soup yesterday in the crock pot. I took 1/2 cup today for luch and blended it till it was liquid. I got down about half of that. Now I have this tight feeling in my chest? Is this what it feels like to be full now? thanks for any input...

Your stomach is still swelled. I understand that it is restriction. I still have lots and lots in the mornings up until the evening. I guess it's how it fills to have a fill.

Eat very slow and don't drink with your meals. I have found that causes it with me.

Hope your feeling better. Was wondering how you were doing.

I was banded on July 18. I get full very quickly on about 1/2 to 1 cup of food, but have never experienced pain of any sort. I guess everyone is different. All I get is a feeling of being full...not Happy Turkey Day full...but full nonetheless.

Some dr's. put some fill in at the time of surgery and I guess this could be the difference. My dr. puts no fill in at all, and I wondeer what it will be like after I get my first fill.

Good Luck

Thats the "full: feeling. My only concern is that you "liquified" veggie Soup. Are you sure that it is liquid and not mushy. Day 3 you should really only be drinking broth and liquid protien drinks like Carnation. Make sure that the liquified soup is really liquid and not a bit solid.

Day 3 post op can be a bit tricky, you get bored of the liquids and try to experiment with "liquifying". This can be a dangerous experiment, you never want to vomit or heave your first two weeks post op. That could cause slippage and that would be too much for a newbie to handle.

Good luck and stick with liquids.

Every doc is different Saul. I was told that I could have anything that would fit through a straw. For me, liquified Soup was A-okay!

And yes, welcome to FULL!

Definitely full. I thought it was a wierd feeling too. And I was unsure of it. But now that I know what it is I go very slowly or that tightness can turn to pain!!

go for as many as you feel you need. This is the time for healing, and you need to make sure you have enough to rebuild your body.

Any weight lost during this time, is strictly bonus!

Never Felt Any Gas Pain Or Shoulder Pain???????????????????????:)

Banded July 25/2006

Preweight 230lbs

I never had any gas pains, no shoulder pain, no chest pain....absolutely none. You would think at my age I would have all the problems, but absolutely none. I haven't had a fill yet, so I may be singing a different tune afterwards, but I sometimes wonder if I have a band :target: but I know I get full very fast. The only thing I had after surgery was port pain....and it's gone.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
