Recommended Posts

I am a 30 year old female. I have suffer with been over weight all my life.I have tried all different kinds of diets such as counting calories, mayo, and weight watcher's. I tend to loose the weight, but always gain what I lost and plus back.I don't have any health problems as of now, but eventually they will come if I don't loose this weight. I have two kids who always asking to go to different amusement parksand do different activities with me, but my weight is keeping me from doing it with them. I really just want some feedback about the sleeve.

The sleeve has been one of the best decisions of my life! The sleeve will help you get control over your food issues so that you can lose the weight and keep it off. I know it is a big decision to have the surgery, but it is so worth it. I never felt full until I had the sleeve. It is so nice to know that I have this tool to help me for the rest of my life. I completely recommed the sleeve!!! Good luck on your journey.

I'm 29 with no serious health problems either but I choose the sleeve because it seemed "just right" compared to the bypass (too much) and band (too little).

I'd tried everything from the time I started gaining weight in my late teens, with diets ranging from vegetarian to macrobiotic to Atkins to Dukan, counting calories and obsessing over every nutrient I consumed. I also ran, lifted weights, worked with personal trainers, shifted to working with medically-supervised weight loss, tried Weight Watchers, you name it. I had no serious health issues, but nothing would shift more than about 10-15 pounds no matter how long I stayed on it or how hard I tried.

I'm two weeks post-op now and have already lost 23 pounds. It's been a bit painful, and it's hard to get down enough fluids and Protein, but each day gets easier. I did this for my health so that I'll live long enough to see my grandchildren grow up when I have them someday, and I'll also have the energy to have fun with them. Being thinner and better-looking will just be a bonus. Short-term inconvenience for long-term gain is well-worth it in my opinion!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
