3 Days Post-op And No Gas! Should I Be Worried?

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved on Dec. 16th and was released from the hospital today. I have yet to have any gas and before I left I asked if that would be an issue. They said no but if I had gas pain and no gas to call the doctor back after a while. Since I've had minimal pain I'm not sure what to look for. I just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience and if it's normal?

Count your lucky stars!!! As long as you aren't having problems going to the bathroom and you have had a BM, you should be okay. You must be doing exactly what you're supposed to do, walking, sipping, and generally healing fine! Good job!

My surgeon warms the CO2 he uses to help minimize the gas pain, perhaps yours does as well.

Good luck and welcome to the loser's bench!!! :)

I never had any gas or gas pains. I had no pain at all and had a great recovery. Consider yourself lucky and enjoy. I was expecting the worse and it never came.

Yup your darn lucky! But if the pain starts it's usually up in the shoulder blades. It's a really bad nagging pain, as well as in your lower tummy. Are you passing gas? Burping? If so that is wonderful, maybe you'll have missed that part of discomfort of the surgery! Lucky!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
