My Life Started On August 19, 2011

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve done on Aug 19 2011. Age 55. Start weight was 380 pre-op. At date of surgery I was 342. Today I'm 238! and still loosing for a total of 142 lbs. While at JH I was treated better than any hospital at home. My hat off to the team and Dr. Almanza for giving my life back. Long gone is the high blood pressure pills. I/2 of my diabetes pills gone with my doctor telling me that within 2 months I'll be off them totaly. Gave ALL my clothes away --went from size 52 jeans to 38. WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY!!!!! Follow the pre-op and post-op rules to the letter, trust the team (I'm sorry I forgot to mention Louise Johnson and thank her) and start living the life God meant us to have--as a SKINNY(er).person.

Thanks for reading this and if you decide to follow through then call Louise and mention my name Jim Allen from Manitoba Canada

Congratulations. I have had similar success with my sleeve that was done on Aug 23rd by Dr. Almanza. Since start of preop diet on July 26th, I have lost 99lbs. Best thing I ever did for my life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
