Today I Am Exactly 14 Months Post Gastric Sleeve Op

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone for making a gal feel so special!! I've been a little down lately though I haven't shown it. The pain and no workouts has gotten to me a bit. My workouts have been such a great motivator for me, and kept me sane and feeling sooo high! I do miss it really bad. But, you have all gotten me having that feeling again!!! :Banane57: Much love and blessings to each and every one!!!

Congrats, you have worked so hard. I thought you had surgery in August 2010...or were you Sept? Well, if Sept, I am just two days behind you so we make a great team.

No matter how many months out, you are an great leader who we all admire. Thanks for showing your sad, glad and bad *(*& photos which are amazing.

Hugs.

I had totally forgot we were sleeved so close together, but yes we are both "September Sleevers". :) You hit your goal way before I did! Big hugs my dear friend. Whooottt!!! Wondering where the other September Sleevers are???

I admire ur strength on daily basis:) and I can never forget how u can always make a person feel so special and powerful:) great things happen to great ppl like urself.

U are strong woman Irene:) and u are living proof for everyone who is about to have the sleeve step that it is a dream maker but ONLY if u are willing to invest hard work and not let go of ur willpower:)

Cant wait till u start running again and kick my mind everyday with the challenges u motivate me to face when u log in ur activities:)

You are doing amazingly great! we are the same weight now!! but u can wear size 6 and I am struggling to fit my 14 lol I am not jealous am just driven forward to be where u are:) God bless u dear:)

You keep me inspired daily, and make me anxious to get back on that treadmill!!!! Ugghhh I'm sooo missing it right now. I know I'm going to be sore once I get back on. It only takes a few weeks for the muscles to get used to not doing much, but good thing is once you've been conditioned one time, it's not as hard to get back to what you know. THANK YOU for always being such a blessing for me!!!

You look hawt. Just totally hot, full stop. Dammit woman, we are the same height but I weigh like 15lb less than you...but you are just waaaayyyy slimmer and better-shaped than me. I'm jealous of your great rack, your badonkadonk (I wish I had even a little bit!!) and your awesomely awesome collarbones and smooth neck. I AM JEALOUS, okay? I admit it!! LOL.

Anyhoo, congrats on your continued awesomeness and I love how you share your progress and photos with us. Yay you!!!

ETA: Oh yeah, and you totally wear smaller sizes than me. :ciappa:

EATA: That emoticon I just posted has a way nicer a$$ than I do. :incazzato:

LOL!!! You totally cracked me up! I can't explain the reason I weigh so much. The few people in real life I choose to tell how much I weigh, they just look bewildered, like its so unbelievable. They say I don't look over 130 Lbs. Ha!! I wish!! I know the fat removal from my legs will make a big difference, but I still think I'll be in the 160's somewhere. Which is perfectly fine! My ultimate goal has already been met... and now just to continue on with my healthy and fit lifestyle. Life's good!!!!!

Wow woman, you look amazing. All that running really can change the shape of your body. I'm 15lbs less than you and I probably look like I weigh 30lbs more. You can see how the muscle you have really changes your body structure. I need to get exercising, i want to! Where is my motivation!? Other than running what else do you do to work out? You look fab congrats on all your success you def worked for it and deserve it all! :youcandothis:

Diva, as per usual you've left me speechless... you look absolutely-bloody-amazing! I know 'looks' aren't the reason for your motivation, but hell... you look fantastic! ( always did in my humble opinion!)

I feel soooo proud of you... and want you to know that each and every word that write is really important around here. You put the positive spin on ALL situations and that makes a real difference.

Irene. You are the entire reason I went through with my surgery. You being so positive and honest about the entire process was what got me through the days after. You have helped me in some many ways you have no idea. I hope you know that there are some that may never comment on things being posted and are just kinda hanging in the shadows but they are soaking up everything. Thank you for being the person you are. You have made this world a better place. God bless you.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
