I wonder why some of us have to take different test than others. Shouldn't it all be the same since we are having the same surgeries.

February 2009 - Began mandated program for my work to be approved for surgery. This is a 20 month program visiting with a psychologist, nutritionist and physiologist every 3 months while going to the gym and following the diabetic diet.

End of August 2010 - Finished program, heard nothing.

January 2011 - Attended 2nd Seminar at a different doctor than originally thought I'd use.

End of January 2011 - Back to the psychologists office to retake tests since they forgot I wanted surgery and apparently the tests were too far apart. Deferred for a 6 month mandated gym attendance 4 to 5 times a week.

August 2011 Sent in required proof.

September 20, 2011 Got approval.

September 22, 2011 First appointment

September 26, 2011 Appointment with Surgeon and Behaviorist

September 30, 2011 Endoscope

October 5, 2011 Surgery Scheduled

October 14, 2011 Final appointments (Dietician, physiologist, PA) (followed by 2 weeks of eating my doctor's foods)

October 31, 2011 Surgery

Mine was so easy, it all took about 2 weeks! ...besides the 2 weeks of myself freaking out whether I should do it or not! I am self pay though.

I basically went and talked to my doctor, she did my ECG and blood work, I took it to the company I'm going through, waited a week to get approved, then booked!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
