Is this normal?

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this forum and a pretty new bander. I was banded on May 30, 2006. I have lost about 35 lbs. I have had a fill of 1cc about 2 wks ago, but still do not feel any different. I can eat anything & I rarely get full. I try to stick to 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food per meal but I'm never satisfied. I cut out carbs & soda & eat alot of Protein each day. I am very pleased with my weight loss but I feel I've done it through willpower & dieting, without much help from the band. Can I get another fill soon?

Will I ever feel the restriction I've heard about?

It usually takes more than one fill to get the restriction you have heard about.

My Dr. happens to be aggressive with his fills and will only do a fill every 6 weeks.

I am going to make goal with only 2 fills but everyone is different. I had great initial weight loss, then it slowed, got my 1st fill - still slowly coming off; got my second fill and it picked up; now that I am close to goal it has slowed again but the overall results in a year (in August) have been amazing.

Hang in there it will come!!

Best wishes.

Yes that is normal. Although every doctor is different, my doc will give you a fill every 2 weeks until your at where you want to be.

Thanks for your advice. I'll be more patient & call my doc on Monday to see about another fill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
