Did you experience an uncomfortable sensation over and around your port during the first week after surgery?? :)

yes. it is just really sensitive because the port is stitched into the muscle. it will go away. i was banded a week before you and feel 1000% better already. Don't worry about it too much. Just take your tylenol for the pain, and try not to do too much. you want to let it heal.

The port site pain was the worst for me and it was several weeks before I could sleep on my left side. As you heal, you're feel less pain so get plenty of rest, stay hydrated and get your required Protein in.

ugh yes! That was the one that took the longest to feel better! As the others have advised, it is painfull as it is stitched in place to the muscle so it would hurt more!

It WILL go away too! thank goodness!

Hope you feel better soon xx

I was banded on Tuesday and the port pain is the only pain I have and that is controlled with my liquid pain meds or just Tylenol. The first couple days I felt like I had been run over by a freight train...sore, but it has completely gone away and just the residual port pain is left. I can't yet sleep on my side, but I can comfortably sleep on my back. Getting up is a bit of a problem, so I've learned to kind of roll out of bed. The pain gets better each day and is very common from what I'm told. If this is the worse it gets I've got this thing beaten :)

Best of luck,

God Bless

I used ice, and only ice post op. It seemed to help me. The port pain was the worst, but luckily it goes away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
