Boss not being very sympathetic.

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to get everything straightened out for the surgery. I keep getting the run around from my surgeon's office. I went in for some pre-op testing on August 26, and haven't heard anymore from them since then. I keep talking about how my friend keeps asking me to go walking with her, but I have had lots of knee pain lately, so I tell her no. I mentioned something about it at work, and my boss just keeps telling me that if I lose weight my knees won't hurt me anymore... well duh! But you have to be able to exercise without hurting too much in order to lose weight! She just thinks I am trying to get the surgery as an easy way out. But I know better! It's definitely not an easy way out, but I know I can't do it on my own. I am just frustrated. I want to hear from the surgeon's office, and I want to get this over with! I want people to be happy for me and I want to be happy! Things just aren't happening fast enough for me. UGH!!

Don't let other's opinions slow you down. I'd have that surgeon's number on speed dial. No, this isn't the easy way out, you still have to work at it. But it sure does help. I used to have knee and foot pain after exercising, sometimes to the point of being immobile the next day. Not a good motivator in staying active. At the end of a long day at work I would literally limp around for the rest of the evening. NO MORE. I can kick butt now! Stay the course! I'm not saying that VSG heals all aches and pains. I have a coworker who had it done and lost 150 lbs but still relies on pain meds because his knees are so shot from being obese for so long. Go for small walks if possible and add a minute a day. Anything is better than nothing. Stay the course grasshopper. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
