I'm excited and anxious! But would be better without this yuck pre-op clear liquid diet. Only been on it today so I cannot imagine those of you who have been on it for weeks!! You have my sympathy! Catching my new shows, then going to pack, shower and try to get some sleep!! Wish me luck!

Panda, hope yours went well. Mine did and I got home yesterday. Not really in a lot of pain but am feeling the gas today. I am also experiencing how hard it is to get that Protein in but I am determined to do it!

Sleeve2b, good luck and hope it all went well with you yesterday. I never knew Mexico was an option til I had signed up locally. I am self pay so I know it is a huge difference! I really feel it will be worth getting a loan in the end!

Hoping all goes well for you ladies!!!

And yes, that clear liquid diet sucked!! I am on full liquids now! Much easier.

Hey glad your surgery went well!! Well mines went great besides the two nights I spent in the hospital i had a bad reactions to the anesthesia well a normal one i'm guessing I was puking for a day and a half, couldn't keep anything down so i was on iv fluids until I left on Thursday. I'm still having a hard time getting my fluids and Protein in, I've prob had 2 cups fluids and 1oz Greek yogurt and that's staying home all day watching the clock and trying to sip an oz Atkins advantage all day long. i got down 7 ounces but the day is over and I only have gotten a minimal amounts of 20/60 grams of protein.. 16/64 oz of fluids... I'm getting stressed should i not be worrying about it at this time?

Sleeve2B Hope all went well in Mexico!!

Hi Ladies,

Thank you for your well wishes. I am now back at home in good old hot Houston....lol. I Am OFFICALLY SLEEVED :-) I plan to work my sleeve well. I've already gone to the gym and walked 4 miles and did 20mins. on weights. I even did Zumba in the evening. I am bouncing back from my surgery well.

My surgery went great..no complications, per my doc.

There is no rest for the wiry. I am experiencing gas, but not like at the hospital. I spent 3 days in the hospital, so my worst of everything appears to be there. I too left my stomach in Mexico. It was a good experience for me.

I do hope you ladies are healing well.

Let's catch up soon..

Wow S2B!! 4 miles!!! Awesome job! I went on a 15min walk yesterday and came back in intense pain my tummy was killing me. Your doc said it was ok to be doing strength training? I'm restricted from anything but walking until i see him at 2 weeks post op. Glad your doing well, how is your Fluid Protein intake?

Hey Panda,

I am a runner. I have been running for the last 17 years of my life. So a 4mile walk is nothing for me. One would think with all of the running that I do, I wouldn't need this surgery -- but I did. My starting weight was 225lbs, and I am down to 214 in a matter of days. (I haven't been able to get the weight off in YEARS!) I am sooo excited for my journey to see where I will end. My goal is around 130-135.

Per my doc, I can walk~walk~walk~as much as possible. The more walking -- the less gas I will have. I figure, by 3 weeks I will be back to running again (as long as there is no pain).

I can do up to 10 lbs of weights. I am restricted from elipitcal machines, or any machine that could pull the stiches loose for 1 month.

I feel great! Unfortunately, I have sooo many chores, etc to do around my house -- so when I got back home, I didn't stop moving. Woke up extremely tired today to come back to work.

Ohh about that Protein, I am only 5\6 days out. I am just trying to get my liquids in at this time. My body isn't accepting the Protein just yet.

I have been drinking "G" (Gatorade) - Recovery (it has protein in it). I also have Protein Shots. When I take the shots (and this is TMI people - turn your heads.lol); it gives me the runs. So, until I go on thick protein, I will stay away from the shots for now.

Fluids are going down like a champ. It hurt at first, but ever day is better and better. Not so much pain.

Panda, keep me posted on your results and how you're doing. I would love to share as we move forward.

Take Care

Sleeve2B

Glad everything is going okay! Ya i would stay away from those Protein shots I hear alot of bad things about them over the forums if you getting the runs, something must be up, I think once we get to mushies Protein will not be a prob at all, I'm allowed baked fish so that's pretty much going to be a staple lol and I love it so I'm all for it! I went to the gym walked 30 min which was almost a mile and a quarter had a little cramping but it totally went away at home. Hope week 2 goes great for us both! You should come over to our posting in the September 2011 sleevers we have a thread for our date.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
