Recommended Posts

Hey,

My hubby has been doing testastrone shots for a the past year. He had his VSG surgery in Aug and he is wondering if at some point he might loose enough weight to not need to get the test shots anymore...what do you vets think? Thanks, Tracy w.

I would contact ourobourous (check out the O member screen names up at the top of the forum). . . I think I remember him posting about low T at some point. There's a few guys that have discussed it in their forum that's just for the guys. Hopefully, they'll chime in soon.

I think most men that are over weight have issues with their Testosterone levels. I know I did and was taking shots....My doctors has since had me stop taking them but my test leves has dropped again not as low as it was before but it has dropped near 325 it should be around 700-850 IIRC....Before shots and while fat with diabetes it was 120...

I have lost 50 lbs in 3 months... see sig below for all my lost perscriptions....

There's a good chance. I was not taking shots but my levels were a bit low (I forget the exact numbers, but they were low enough to have a discussion with the doctor). My levels were back to normal on my 3/4 month post op check up and have stayed good.

I started about over a year ago. I was taking 1cc of a higher concentrate every 2 weeks. I wasn't getting enough so they upped it to every 10 days and I was at a good level. Between 300 and 600 trough and peak. 200 is the lower limit 900 is the upper. You run a higher risk of prostate cancer with a VERY high level. Then I got sleeved.

After a few months, I was feeling pretty enraged all the time, pissed at EVERYTHING, so I went in early for my check. My level went up to 1050! We cut back on the dosage to 1/2 CC. 8 weeks later and a few more pounds off I went back in, the level was 1200! I was like the incredible Hulk! Growling and snapping at everyone and everything. It see-sawed like this for bout 6 more months till I finally got the dosage right at 1/2 CC every 10 days of a half strength stuff. My top level fell to 600.

To answer your question; It all depends. My problem is that I hardly produce any naturally. I probably have NOT all my life but until it started to fall off even MORE as I aged I started to feel the effects more pronounced. So in my case I will probably NOT be able to get off it. Your hubby may or may NOT be the same.

can I ask you guys a question, to those of you that were taking T shots, how heavy were you guys? I ask b/c my heaviest was 560 2 years back and never had to get T shots of any sort, has it anything to do with my age? (26 now)

Yes your age probably has everything to do with it... I had no problems up untill i hit 35 then i started to notice that i had waining intrest in my wife's attention. I went on for about 2 years then i hit 40, and the bottom fell out out the bucket. I went to the doctor and learned that my t level was 120. Way low for a forty year old... shots cured me. My levels have been as high as 1000 and i have never felt aggressive or hostile ever. I always feel alot more confident when taking it and it takes about a second to get me intrested in sex with my wife, i think it's the best thing since sliced bread...

Yep, what he said.

Age has EVERYTHING to do with it, and if, like me, you're a low producer from the start it gets WORSE with age. I'm 50 and will probably have to take it the rest of my life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
