how long does a stall last???

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm almost 3 months out and have already had 3 stalls. Ugh! But I'm actually past my 3 month goal.

During my 3.5 week pre-op diet, I lost 25 lbs. Then in the first 2 weeks post op, I lost 10 lbs. Then I stalled out for a whole 4 weeks. Then I started losing again and within a week and a half I lost 15 lbs. Then I stalled out again for 2-3 weeks. Then another 5 lbs. fell off over 2 days. And now, I've been in a stall since then....I think about 2-3 weeks.

Hope that helps. :)

Hi There,

Stalls are exasperating! Everyone is different, and so its hard to say that a stall begins and ends at a certain time. Just know that they are part of this process. My doctor says that things are shifting around in your body, and you may still be losing, even though the scale says otherwise. I hope so, because I am 4!/2 mos. out, and I have stalled 3 times. Each time, it has lasted for a few weeks. All of a sudden, I will begin losing again. I am not a fast loser, so stalls are even more aggravating. I decided not to get caught up with the scale thing, and I just try to adhere as much as possible to a healty diet. It doesn't seem to matter if I am being extra good, the stalls come anyway, but they do pass. Good luck, and don't get discouraged.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
