Absolutely not. I never wanted the bypass or the band. I still don't. The sleeve is right for me. I haven't had any buyers remorse since my surgery.

So far, I definitely prefer the sleeve. The recovery for RNY is much more intense.

NO WAY!!!

That is why I did not have WLS years ago. I NEVER would have my guts re-routed! I love my sleeve and have never had one moment of buyer's remorse!

No way. My sister had gastric bypass, and she has done well, but the sleeve has fewer surgical complications. Also, my sister can't eat particular foods, as in ever, whereas my diet is basically whatever my sleeve can tolerate--I will eventually be able to eat a slice of toast, let's say, whereas she won't. I'm not a fan of dumping syndrome. Really glad I had the sleeve.

Hell no! I can't say goodbye to carbs forever, it's not in my nature. Plus, with my medical history anything coming near my intestines was a no-go.

I do not regret having the sleeve over RXY. In speaking to my primary MD, I feel It is the best choice out there. I didn't want to reroute my intestines. Nor was I interested in the low weight loss and issues that come with the band.

The RNY was never on the table for me (or vice versa, I guess!) since it really doesn't offer any upside to the VSG to go with all of its limitations. The DS was the only alternative considered as it does at least offer some performance upsides in exchange for its trade offs. I will only know if that would have been a better choice for me in a few years time if I experience any marked regain - an area where the DS offers a clear statistical advantage over the other WLS procedures.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
