Does it really get easier?

Recommended Posts

I am starting to ask myself, wth did I do? Including the pre-op diet, I was on a liquid diet for 1 month and now a week of pureed, with one week left before I can move onto solids. My pureed diet has been very close to liquid because there is very little that I have found that I enjoy when I puree it.

I am getting very frustrated and having a hard time watching others around me eat while I am drinking a Protein shake or Soup again. I just want regular food. I almost feel like I am starting to get a little depressed because of it and it is making me think I should have never of gotten this damn sleeve.

I have read different things on here that it gets easier. Does it really and when? I have been doing and feeling great up until this past week and down I can feel my spirits getting lower and lower each day. HELP!:(

I am just over 7 weeks out. For me, the first 6 weeks was the hardest as I too, watched people eat and it made me sad. I didn't want to over-eat, I just wanted something to crunch. But, yes, I started eating solids and I feel like I am on the other side of the slope now. I had two bites of BBQ chicken pizza a couple days ago and it was fantastic! Felt great afterwards, too, so I know there is a light there. I have lost a huge amount of weight in such a short amount of time. I am so happy I got the sleeve. Two bites of pizza and I was full. Amazing.

It is hard to believe sometimes, I know, but it does get easier.

It really does get better. I am bout 6 weeks out and I am feeling so much better about it. The beginning is really hard with liquids. I felt the same way after a while but it goes quickly and its worth the wait. Tomorrow I will be on a normal diet and been excited to have salads again. : ) its the little things. Hang in there.

I've got a little less than 6 weeks before I can have full solids, but only 12 days before I can add some canned chicken/tuna. I've never been so excited about chicken in my life!

It does get easier. The beginning can be difficult, it was for me. I was sleeved on July 18, six weeks ago today. I can eat so much more now than in the beginning and it seems so much easier now. I had two weeks of liquid, 2 weeks of mushies, and now I was told to experiment, take small bite, and chew, chew, chew. I even had a small piece of cheese pizza last week. It took me 45 minutes to eat it, but it tasted great and absolutely no problems. Now, I know, I can't eat pizza all the time, but once in awhile will not hurt. You will get there before you know it.

I know exactly how you're feeling. I have 6 days before I'm officially on mushies and I am counting down. LOL Everytime I cook my daughter dinner I cry a little inside ... I just want to take a bite out of everything!! LOL

Just want to add some encouragement. It really does get easier once you are on solid foods. I'm over 6 months out & I really can eat like a 'normal' person, just much smaller portions. Once you are on solids, you will feel like a regular human being again. Good luck!

I move to mushies on Sunday and I am soooo excited. I have never dreamt of a scrambled egg as a treat before but boy do I now!

Here's a funny for you: I ordered my kids a pepperoni pizza and all I wanted was a piece of the cheese. I took a chunk of it and chewed it until the taste was completely gone , kinda like gum, and then spit it out. My kids laughed at me but that was all I needed to take care of that craving!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
