Did any one think it wasn't going to work for them?

Recommended Posts

I am 17 days out and I am down 38lbs from my highest weight, and 23lbs since surgery. I am very happy with this weight loss. I have lost about 40lbs about 10x in the past and this is where I always fail and start gaining back. I have this fear its going to be the same as always. I cannot see myself even getting into the 100's again....... did anyone else have these thoughts and were proved wrong? I havn't had a single day where I didn't lose at least one pound, so I am really worried this will be too good to be true! Any thoughts are welcome!

Honestly, I think every one of us had that fear at some point. I had never really been able to break 180 in the past. I breezed by it after surgery like it was nothing and a month after that I was in the 160's. At this point, being close to goal, I have really stopped thinking about myself as a weight "number". I am a little more concerned now about working and toning the parts of my body that are lagging behind. I am really happy at this weight and I now have faith that my body is going to settle in at a weight that is right for me.

Stick to the program, Celebrate your little victories, and enjoy the ride :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
