What has been your "Wow" moment since you started your weight loss journey?

Recommended Posts

OK, I am stealing this topic from another site's board, but here goes. Share a moment during your weight loss that made you say to yourself - wow. I had one this last weekend. My wife and I love to go to Dallas Stars hockey games. I have a Star's jersey that I haven't worn in several years. I was trying on some older, smaller clothes this last weekend and low and behold, my jersey fits very nicely again! I almost teared up as I thought to myself that I was getting my life back. It inspired me to keep up the good fight and not go back.

I cried when my husband went to hug me and when his arms wrapped around me they were able to reach the opposite sides. It was a major feeling for me, and I love his hugs more than ever now.

When I first went to try on pants at a regular store. I picked out the bigger size (not a big men's size, mind you) and they were too big!

I was buying clothes for a regular person!

My biggest wow moment is going clothes shopping and not hating the way I look in my clothes!

Also, when I see my reflection in a mirror or window, I am no longer disgusted.

My biggest WoW moment happened last night.

Since my husband and I met, I have wanted to sit on his lap, hug my arms around him and lay my head on his shoulder. We were both morbidly obese when we met, so even the act of sitting on his lap wasn't possible - well not with any comfort.

We were out on our patio last night, he was sitting on a chair with his legs stretched out on an ottoman, and without thinking I just stepped over his legs and sat down. We were talking and stuff, still hadn't really hit me that I was on his lap. He said something that made me smile and I hugged him, and then it hit me. I hugged my arms around him, hid my face in his neck and had a good cry while he held me on his lap. There'll never be a bigger WoW for me.

Oh man, that put tears in my eyes! That is WONDERFUL! :clap2:

Rob swears that this will be his wow moment in all of this. He constantly tells me he can't wait for me to be able to sit in his lap and cuddle. I agree with him. :)

I went to a family function this last weekend and I had not seen one of my cousins since my surgery. Well when I walked up he said oh my gosh I didnt know who was walking up until you got close enough for me to see your face. I thought wow. I cant believe I look that different. I loved it!

I went to a place where we get parts for the farm machinery,I had not been there since my surgery. I walked in and the boss looked at me and his eyes got big and he said (loud enough for everybody to hear), My hell if you get any smaller the wind will blow you away. Caught me off guard but made my day. Told DH that I would go for parts at that place any day. lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
