Hi, I'm Kim I'm going in for surgery with Dr. Deol on Monday! I'm excited yet a little freaked! Hi KimmieB!

Welcome to the board and welcome to the little "inner group" of Dr. Deol's patients! There are a few of us here, in all phases of surgery! Done, there now, waiting, researching!

I'm waiting....June 14th!

Have you gone to the discussion board on Dr. Deol's website? It's not very active but we are trying to kick it off!

I have only heard good things about Dr. Deol and Troy Beaumont Hospital. Keep us posted on how everything is going for you!

Thanks Debra for being so sweet! The more I look at the postings the more I see that all of you on this sight are starting to be a tight little group! I just love Dr. Deol! Her sweet but in your face attitude is just what I need to make me move! I haven't checked out the message board on her sight yet , maybe I'll do that today! Thanks for your support!

Welcome KimmiB!

I would imagine that we all go through pretty similar feelings from before band to after band. (o: RIght now I am excited to have things moving towards getting insurance approval but am sure I will get nervous and scared when I get to the time of actually having the surgery done. Wishing you all the best in your journey to bandland and keep us ladies and gentlemen in waiting updated! With every person that I see go through the process I am more and more comfortable and certain of my own choice. (o:

Good Luck!

Darcy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
