Do you have days where your sleeve doesn't like anything?

Recommended Posts

I've had a couple of days this week where my sleeve didn't like much of anything. I've been nauseous - on the verge of vomiting a couple of days. Today I did throw up for the first time post sleeve. I'm almost 6 weeks out. I'm on a PPI and following dr and nut diet completely. Foods that have been a staple are now making me ill. Did anyone go through periods like this?

Yes, I go through days like this, I dont know what trigger this pattern but I think afterwards that I either ate too quickly or just ate something that bothered my sleeve. Sometimes a little tiny bit of spicier ingredients does it to me. also sleeping/lying down after short time of eating or drinking do the same to me. Drinking too fast. Or having a denser food the day before. Dont worry it just comes few days a month and it fades away and it is nothing u should worry about.

In the first couple of months, once I ate something that irritated my sleeve, I had to be extra careful the next day or so. I just went back to my more bland, mushie diet for a day and that worked for me. I spring back faster now from mistakes and generally have to be careful just on the next meal - not for a whole day.

For example, about 6 weeks out, I got sick from something I ate at dinner. So that night, I had unjury chicken Protein, which is the easiest for me to digest. The next day, I had greek yogurt for Breakfast and lunch, and soymilk/protein drink in the evening. Last week, I ate to fast and felt sick after. So for dinner, I had Anderson split pea Soup, which I know is easy on my tummy. I skipped my Protein Drink that evening and by the next morning, I was back to my regular eating routine.

I'm seven months out and there are days when my sleeve is picky. For example, deli sliced turkey breast has always been a quick and easy snack or "go-to" meal for me. The last two times I have had it I have felt sick afterward--and I did nothing out of the ordinary. chicken usually doesn't sit well but I went to dinner at a friend's house and it was no problem at all! I just roll with whatever seems to be going on. It is curious, though--my old stomach was not picky at all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
