Not Gonna Meet My Short-Term Goal :(

Recommended Posts

Well, I had a goal to be at 187 by August 19th. That is my wedding anniversary and that would have put me losing 100 pounds in a year. I am going to be 5 1/2 pounds short. I am really frustrated. I try to tell myself to look at my overall weight loss. It is really amazing.I have lost 94.4 pounds in year, 52 pounds in the 4 months since my surgery. I am thinking that I'm not going to make myself short-term goals anymore. This was the first time I actually set a specific number in a specific period of time, and I think I get too hung up on the numbers when I do that???

I know that I have done a few little things to sabatoge myself lately too. I had completely quit drinking coffee before my surgery because I only like it with real sugar and CoffeeMate. In the last month I have started drinking it again (with the real sugar and CoffeeMate). I just got my first order of Click in and started drinking that this morning (LOVE IT), so I am hoping that will help me break the coffee habit again. I notice that now, at four months out, I can eat more and I am hungry more. I am struggling to drink enough Water too. I HAVE to make myself get my water in!!!

I guess I just needed to vent a little. I will now STOP whining, pull my big girl panties up (though they are much smaller than they use to be, just a large with no x's in front :D ) and do what I know I need to do!!! Thanks for listening!!

That's some amazing weight loss! Congrats on that!

Don't give up on short term goals. They can be helpful and motivating. However, do a short term goal of loosing a specific amount of weight - not by a specific date, but a specific amount of weight. For example, set a goal of loosing 10 pounds - and then give yourself a little "non-food" reward for reaching that 10 pound weight loss goal when you do. Then set another goal like that. Keep repeating it until you get to your ultimate goal.

If your weight loss is stalling, then go back to the basics. You already have an idea about that. You can do it!

94 lbs in a year is AMAZING!!!! Don't fool yourself; that is incredible! What diet could have ever given you those results before the sleeve? Girl, go strut your stuff and have an awesome anniversary with your hubby! You deserve it after all of your hard work biggrin.gif

I agree with the others...You have done amazingly well... try not to get hung up on the numbers. If it is any help, I am the same, I set mini goals and never reached any of them, so now... well, I don't bother 'cos they were self defeating!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
