9 Hours until I arrive at the hospital

Ok, I know you see this all the time but please someone talk me down from my ledge. I've really been great and calm all day. Now I'm going through all the scary feelings. Please, please, send prayers and positive thoughts my way. I promise to update when I'm out of surgery.

You will do great! I had the same feelings - cried when I checked in at admissions for goodness sakes! Your nerves are to be expected. Grab ahold of them and go for it. You will be so happy when your new life begins. Best to you and can't wait to hear from you once you are home!

You do not need to be on the ledge sister! Sleeve world is great!:D Not a walk in the park the first few weeks but each day gets better and better. It is so nice to unchained from hungry, hungry, tummy. I like my tiny tummy. I can manage it! I feel like I did when I was in my 20's on the hunger scale. It's been soooo long I had forgotten. So even though it is very normal to have some anxiety right

before surgery it will all work out for the best. You are making the right decision for your health! Good luck and wishing you a smooth

and safe surgery and recovery!;)

Your my sleeve twin! I'm going alone, but only because it just seemed easier that way (fiance has 4 very young boys). Can't wait for it to be OUR turn!!!

Hey Debbie! Funny I find myself reading your post right around the "in 9 hours" mark too! I have to be there at 9am and here I am awake! Not too worried here, have had so many surgeries before, then I start thinking I SHOULD be worried! UGH!! Ready for it to be done! See you on the losers bench!

Thank you so much everyone for your warm replies. Been out of surgery around 4 hours. Doc said it all went well but pain is unbelievable. Walked twice around the nurses station so far. Throat hurts. You guys are AWESOME. I love you all much :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
