Fat, Sick , and Nearly Dead

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever tried juicing before? Last night I watched the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. AMAZING and very inspirational! If you have Netflix you can watch it instantly- and I would highly recommend this movie. Two guys change their lives by doing a juicing cleanse and then incorporate juicing into their regular diet afterwards.

I would be up to trying juicing myself but was wondering if it would be too much for someone with the sleeve. I will ask my doctor during my next visit but was just wondering if any of you had any experience with this or advice.

I have never watched the movie you are talking about but I love my juicer! I juiced before surgery and now after. I obviously can't drink as much now as I could before surgery but this is a great way to get in fruits and veggies. I use it for my kids too. My favorite is to always add raw beets to whatever I am juicing. It's interesting because as long as you add some fruit to the juice it takes away the veggie taste. My kids even love it!:)

What type of juicer do you have? I really think I want to purchase one. I've been looking at the Breville brands online- they seem to have good reviews. Just wondering if they are worth the $$$ though.

I was wondering the same thing about juicing. Afraid to spend money on an appliance I may not use. LOL.

As for Breville...obviously I don't have the juicer, but I have a few other of their appliances and they are AWESOME! They've been worth the extra $$$ so far. (And if you check HSN or QVC, you'll probably be able to get them on payments, and if you hate the appliance, they're good about returns.)

I have a Juiceman juicer. I bought mine at Kohls.com over a year ago. I waited until they had a 30% off sale and found the coupon code online and ordered it. I don't even know if they still sell that brand. It works great so far.

The ones you are looking at look wonderful! I probably wouldn't spend that much money on one unless you know for sure you will like juicing and want to keep doing it.

Juicing is a great way to get ALOT of Vitamins in, I would recomend wheat grass shots and beet juice but be careful you might get the runs if you over do it....

I would suggest a Single Auger Masticating Juicer, their great and the clean up is nowhere as difficult as other kinds of juicers. I seem to get more juice out of this type than the 'ol jack lalane' type. If you want you could always buy the wheat grass trays and use those, its like having a house plant. Walmart.com or Amazon.com seem to have the best prices. Good luck, you do get used to the taste which is not all that bad...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
